According to most people’s standards I have achieved success. I have been married 34 years, have a great family, am financially stable, have founded and brought to fruition numerous successful businesses and projects and am happy more than I am sad. I was thinking the other day about what more than anything else constitutes success in one’s life.
Some might say money or material things; others believe it is great accomplishments.
I would have to say that one’s success can be measured more by the peace that they know rather than their bank account, business successes and other personal triumphs. Peace comes from God. It is given liberally to those who love and respect him and obey His commands. Personally I experience peace in my life at times and there are times when I do not.
I hate it when peace eludes me. Generally it eludes me when I begin to drift and slide backwards. I am miserable until peace is yet again restored in my life. There is no greater feeling than having peace, and it truly comes from God Himself.
Soon another year will have passed. Many of us set goals last year and we will measure our achievements compared to last year’s goals pretty soon. Then we will set goals for next year with an eye on improving our lot in life. Hopefully your eye is on becoming successful and success will be a written goal that everyone will pursue. Strive for peace in your life. It is God’s greatest gift to those who love Him. If you love Him, you will tell others about him and what a difference He has made in your life.
Without Him we would be nothing.
Psalm 119:165
Great peace have those who
love Your law,
And nothing causes them to stumble.
