Is it hard to be a Christian?

I have heard many a sermon that the preacher stated that it is difficult to be a Christian. I disagree, and the Bible verifies it to my way of thinking. Jesus Himself said it is easy to follow Him. (See below). It is hard to avoid sin in our lives, but it is easy to be a Christian. Yes, here are those in this evil world who will persecute and will make fun of Christians and Christian values. So what? There are millions of Christians out there with whom you can associate that have the same belief system that you have as a Christian. Further and more importantly, Christians have God right there with us every step of the way. Watch any Christian family endure a tragedy and then watch a non-Christian family endure similar circumstance and you will see a marked difference. Jesus compels us to come to Him and cast our burdens upon Him. One of the names associated with God is the Comforter because He comforts us in times of trouble. He also blesses us and gives us peace and rest. It is not difficult to be a Christian. It is difficult to avoid sin and to represent God the way He wants us to represent Him all of the time because we are weak and too often succumb to temptation; however He understands our weakness, He assists in ways of which we cannot even conceive. He forgives us when we fail Him and he blesses our efforts to do better the next time. If you do not know the Lord as your personal Savior, you are missing out on what life is supposed to be all about.

Matt.11:28

Come to Me all you who labor

and are heavy laden, and I will give

you rest.

Take My yoke upon you and

learn from Me, for I am gentle and

lowly in heart, and you will find

rest for your souls.

For My yoke is easy and My

burden is light.
