Did you know that according to a Gallup poll trust in the media is at an all-time low, dropping to just one in four Americans?

According to Pew research trust in government is even worse with only 19% trusting it.

Trust in politicians is laughable. Most say anything to get elected and in that world money talks and corruption walks and all but the totally naive know it.

We are coming up on the 60th anniversary of President Eisenhower instituting In God We Trust as our national motto. Although it is under heavy assault from the liberal left, according to a recent NBC poll 67% of Americans are in favor of keeping the motto. So approximately 7 of 10 Americans trust in God.

As I was pondering this today I was thinking how sorry I feel for those people who do not trust in God. Obviously media, government, and leadership cannot be trusted, so who do they trust? That would be an interesting poll. I would assume that most don’t trust in anything.

Hmmm . . . No wonder anxiety is the number one mental health disorder in this country with hundreds of billions of dollars spent on medications for it.

One of the goals of the Jesus Alliance is to bring people to the word of God, the Holy Bible, in order that they might understand that while everything else in this world might fail us, God will always be there for us. What we need in this country is faith. In Mark 5:36 Jesus provides our answer: “Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’”

It is refreshing to me to know that the Bible assures us that God never changes and is the same today as He was 1000 years ago and will be the same 1000 years from now. He is our rock and our fortress, and when we put our faith in Him we don’t need Xanax, Prozac, or anything. Isaiah 35:4 tells us: “Tell everyone who is discouraged, Be strong and don’t be afraid! God is coming to your rescue…”

Many people are ranting incessantly about the election. In fact I’ve just about quit watching the news in its entirety and have opted to prerecord Seinfeld reruns so I can smile for a while. Faith in God and trusting that He is in control is the key to peace, joy, and love in our lives. Without Him we will endure panic, chaos, and fear.

Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
