Yesterday we had one heck of a worship service with musician/evangelist Walter Santos appearing at Honey Lake Church. The Holy Spirit moved throughout the church and the name of the Lord was greatly glorified. Later we went across the street and had a magnificent feast and fellowshipped with each other for quite some time.

It was a gorgeous day and Honey Lake was like a large piece of glass. Squirrels were scampering all over the grounds and I cannot imagine a setting this side of heaven that could be any more conducive to communing with God.

I have been very busy traveling for the last several weeks. Saturday morning I went deer hunting and it was one of those crisp mornings that hunters live for. After daybreak the woods came alive and soon thereafter I watched with interest as a pair of does worked their way in front of me cautiously feeding along until they eased their way out of sight.

After they departed the woods got eerily quiet and I felt the Spirit of God. I began praying and though I pray every day, it was the most refreshing prayer that I’d experienced literally in weeks. I don’t know what it is about getting out in the forest and praying, but for me anyway, it enables me to enjoy the peace of God that I need to rest my soul.

I told my Bible study class about this yesterday, and someone reminded me that Jesus used to get up early and go off by Himself and pray. I think He just might have gone into a solitary place similar to Honey Lake where it would just be Him and God spending time with each other.

According to the Bible, we are being subjected to spiritual warfare. Our weapons in large part are prayer, hearing the word of God through our Bible study, and fellowship with other believers in church and elsewhere. If any of these vitally important components are missing in your life, chances are you are experiencing difficulties.

The primary battlefield for spiritual warfare is in our minds. We must renew our minds and spirits daily with the things of God in order to win the battle. God doesn’t advise us to prepare for battle for an hour or two on Sunday and that’s it for the remainder of our lives; He tells us to fully prepare daily.

Start your day with Bible study and prayer and spend some time with fellow believers. Work towards building the Kingdom and serve God in a manner of which He will be proud of you. If you will do that I guarantee you a more blessed, joyful, and peaceful life. Selah . . .

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but continuously be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may be able to determine what God’s will is — what is proper, pleasing, and perfect.
