So here we are the day before 9/11. Will the terrorists strike tomorrow or not?
That is the question . . .

They already have judging from comments that I receive daily from my friends. Many people are worried sick about what will happen tomorrow, thus my contention that the terrorists have already succeeded in terrorizing our citizens without setting off the first bomb. Terrorism is defined as “violence or the threat of violence especially bombing, kidnapping, and assassination, carried out for political purposes”. Results are measured by achieving their goal of frightening those who are the targets.

Many in our nation are intimidated by the threat of violence. As for me, I don’t worry. I figure if something happens, it happens and I will deal with it then. All of the worry in the world won’t prevent a bombing or a beheading, financial loss, or anything else.

Jesus made it exceedingly clear that it is a sin to worry stating: For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life . . . And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? You of little faith!

It is an insult to Almighty God to worry, because it is a statement about our lack of faith. If we have complete faith in God, then we won’t worry and that, my many friends, is the statement of faith for which believers should strive. The Bible states in Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them”.

So do you believe that?

If so, you won’t worry. If not, you will worry which is a sin and that means you will suffer the consequences of that sin.

And lest you blow that one off make no mistake that worry like all sin has its consequences not the least of which is anxiety, which by the way is the number one mental illness in the world with billions spent on the expensive couches of expensive shrinks, pills, booze, and many sleepless gut wrenching moments which lead to other health maladies.

In order to avoid worry we must shore up our faith. The Bible states that faith is increased through hearing the word of God. If your faith is small, then study the Bible daily, attend a Sunday school class, small group, and church. Then you can rest easy realizing that the world and you are in the capable hands of a loving Father who knows what is best for each and every one of us and will take care of us because He loves us beyond measure.

Phil. 4:19

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
