I attended an Alliance Defending Freedom, (ADF) workshop yesterday and a man from Nigeria addressed us. He told us that 70% of Christians in Nigeria had been murdered by the Muslim terrorist group Boko Haram in their effort to create a Muslim state (Caliphate). They have beheaded countless Christians, committed rapes, and engaged in every murderous atrocity known to man. He told us that more Christians were murdered in 2012 in Nigeria than in the rest of the world combined.
Attorneys carefully documented every killing making sure that there would not be even one solitary incident of hyperbole or exaggeration. The report was submitted to then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in an effort to convince her to declare Boko Haram an official terrorist group which would effectively freeze all of their assets abroad and stem the flow of financial support from Saudi Arabia and other countries that support them. It would also make it impossible for terrorists in the organization to freely travel outside of Nigeria.
She steadfastly refused to act and it was not until two weeks after she left office that the new Secretary of State John Kerry declared them a terrorist state, (after they kidnapped
260 Christian girls).
So much carnage, so much grief for persecuted Christians. Why would she allow it to continue unabated? Our forum speaker indicated that his belief was that she didn’t want to offend Muslims. She favored Muslims over Christians for reasons known only to her and God.
Why do the Muslims rage? The answer can be found in the Bible. They will be deceived by satanic forces: All this I have told you so that you will not go astray. They will put you out of the synagogues and churches; in fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me.
I have told you this, so that when the time comes you will remember that I warned you.
– John 16:1-4
The time has come.
While beheadings have not occurred here, Christians in this country and all over the world are beginning to experience varying degrees of persecution that will lead up to it. We see it with the thousands of legal cases brought against Christians and their businesses by the ACLU, Southern Poverty Group, Attorney General Eric Holder and others.
Right here in Florida this past year our company was denied a grant to build a youth camp for disadvantaged and abused kids. I was told by lawmakers who supported our grant that it was denied because I have a reputation for being a Christian down at the state capital and some spineless leaders there were afraid that I would provide a Christian witness to these kids (who are primarily in gangs and without intervention are likely headed to prison), and they didn’t want to open that “can of worms”. (Interestingly a self-described avowed atheist was granted a similar grant for twice the amount of money for which I applied to improve his youth camp without a single hiccup.)
How far are we in the United States from being persecuted like the Christians in Nigeria, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Indonesia, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan and other nations? I suspect that we are closer than we can imagine! Just ask the attorneys at the Alliance Defending Freedom who are representing religious groups all over this country daily from a government dominated by left wing progressives that seem to hate everything Christians stand for.
We need to pray for our country and we need to unite.
Have a great weekend and please go to church this Sunday. We have a tremendous man of God and outstanding speaker this Sunday in world renowned evangelist Bill Fay. Visit Honey Lake Church this Sunday at 11 – you will not want to miss this one!!!!!
In the Book of Revelation, chapter twenty, the Apostle John has a vision and gives us a very brief synopsis of what he sees and specifically describes the future end-time Martyrs. Will we, or our children, or our grandchildren be among them?
PRAY!
Revelation 20:4
I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God.
