Not long ago I went to Washington DC and spoke at the Inc. 500/5000 convention. I spoke to approximately 2000 CEO’s of the most powerful privately owned businesses in the United States. You can see my speech on YouTube.com by typing in Miracle on Luckie Street, (Luckie not Lucky), in the search box.
I spoke right after the Secretary of Commerce of the United States gave his speech. It was not easy pouring my heart out and detailing my terrible past to all of these businessmen. In fact I whispered a prayer and repeated the Bible verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” right before stepping out on the stage. I was very uneasy until I got to the part about Jesus Christ entering my life and changing me from top to bottom.
After obtaining salvation I initially hid my lurid past for several years. I was deeply ashamed of what I had done and did not want anyone to ever know about my misdeeds during my non-Christian life, including my new wife. It was my dark little secret. As time went on and my life became transformed and I learned to love Christ, the Lord convinced me that my story was not about “ME”, rather it was about “HIM”. He extended His grace to me and snatched me out of hell because He loved me, but He also wanted to use my example to reach others. I have yet to personally meet anyone that has sunken any lower or is more evil or worse off than I was and the lesson to be learned by my story is that if God can miraculously change my life there is “hope” for everyone including you.
I began sharing my testimony many years ago. Many in my family right through today are diametrically opposed to my sharing it. It is embarrassing to them and in their eyes is downright humiliating to our family. I offer my testimony in obedience to a powerful God who loves us in spite of our nasty shortcomings, black sin, and infirmities. I view myself and my pride or my family pride as being irrelevant to the equation. God is what is important. My testimony clearly reveals that God never gives up on us no matter how low we have sunken. It reveals that nothing in the world is too powerful to be overcome by the love of God including criminal behavior, immorality, drug and alcohol addiction.
I encourage you to share your testimony with someone today. You too were on your way to hell until Jesus Christ through His Holy Spirit invited you to become His son or daughter. Don’t be ashamed. Don’t be timid. Boldly glorify God as commanded throughout the Bible with little thought to you. If anyone thinks less of you, don’t worry about it. Swallow your pride, (it doesn’t taste all that bad). Focus on the fact that the entire world needs Jesus Christ and your testimony just might be the difference in someone spending eternity in hell versus heaven. Realize that Christ will be with you every step of the way. Perhaps your testimony today will be their first step towards understanding the plan of salvation.
If you just cannot muster the courage to offer up your testimony today, then please forward my YouTube testimony to someone today. I’m not ashamed of my Savior and I don’t mind my testimony going all over the world today! I just pray that it makes a difference in their lives today…
Mat 28:18
And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Today is your day!
