Has anyone ever wronged you? Did you want to get even? I had a tremendous amount of money embezzled from me in the early ’80s and nearly had to take bankruptcy in order to survive. It took me seven long difficult years to recover from it. I very much wanted to get even with those who were involved. In fact I spent nearly two years doing little else but trying to get even. I did not experience peace until I let it go and forgot about them. In fact the very day that I finally made the decision to just forget about it and move on, things started getting better. Not only did I quickly find peace, but my business immediately responded favorably to my renewed interest in it.
God states that vengeance belongs to him. We should let him take care of our enemies. Try as I did, I didn’t get to first base in my attempts to get even. After I quit trying, the ringleader of the employees that were responsible for the theft ended up going bankrupt, he lost everything that he had. His wife left him, taking his two sons with her. He left Atlanta in disgrace. His former friends would not have anything to do with him and he certainly had no reference from me to account for the seven years he spent with my company. His promising career as an “accountant” was over, at least in the Atlanta area.
Had he stayed with me, he was heading for a vice presidency with a promising career to look forward to. Who knows where he might have gone had he not done what he did. I wonder if he thinks about that now.
I now consider this experience as one of the most educational of my career. Through it I learned how to live within my means, budget, and concentrate on the bottom line. I also learned how to persevere and it helped build my character, possibly more than any other singular event in my life.
Funny how things turn out sometimes, is it not? At the time I thought God was punishing me. In reality he was graciously allowing me time to obtain my PHD.
The advice below is tough to follow, but so very true.

Proverbs 25:21
If your enemy is hungry, give
him bread to eat;
And if he is thirsty, give him
water to drink;
For so you will heap coals of
fire on his head.
And the Lord will reward you.
