Do you have indigestion?

I am leaving for Atlanta and then on to Maui today. I was telling my father about it and he was concerned that my wife and I, our two sons, their wives and children, and Teresa’s sister and her husband will all be flying together. If the plane were to go down we would all be gone.

I told him that would simply mean that we would all enter heaven together. “True enough”, he said, “but everyone should live out a full life”.

That is the hope, but to be honest I never even think about it, much less worry. The Bible tells us that God appointed a time for us to be born and a time to die. This took place long before the creation and there is nothing we can do about it even if we wanted to. Worry changes nothing. It is just some useless, silly exercise that causes indigestion to those who engage in it.

The Bible describes heaven as unimaginable glory and paradise and it is difficult for me to develop a sense of dread of going there. Just the opposite, I eagerly anticipate it, but I am content to wait until God’s appointed time when He gives me the nod and tells me that my work here is done and now I have His permission to join Him.

I hate to leave my family and friends behind, but from a selfish standpoint, it will be way cool to enter those gates and start digging the scene.

Until that day, my philosophy is to try my utmost to enjoy every minute of every day afforded to me. I want to live each day to the fullest, just like it might be my last. I have said many times that this life is no dress rehearsal. This is the final performance and is all we will get on this earth. Go for the gusto, not the gusto supposedly found in a can of beer, but the gusto of life that God affords to us each day.

Give it your best performance and lighten up a little today and enjoy life along the way. Living like there might not be a tomorrow also should stimulate us to live in a righteous manner. It is difficult to live the way we should every single day, but the uncertainty of life and knowing that we will face almighty God at judgment should assist in that effort.

You too can make the most of your day today and tomorrow and forever. Give it a try beginning today

Romans 8:18
For I consider the sufferings
of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory which
shall be revealed in us.
