Unfortunately very few people escape discouragement, (at least at some point in their lives). Life is comprised of valleys and peaks. Valleys are inescapable. When deep down in a valley, it is often difficult to avoid discouragement. I heard a story the other day about a baseball game. The score was 14 to nothing. The players on the losing team understandably appeared dejected and somber, except for one player. He was sitting on the bench with a big wide grin on his face. When asked if he wasn’t discouraged, he replied, “Heck no, we haven’t even been to bat yet”.
That spirit is hard to find. Today our economy is really bad, we are facing wars and rumors of wars with many dangerous countries, terrorism abounds, Americans are envied and hated around the world. Satan is having a ball, but keep in mind, (as I’m sure that deep down inside that he does), that we Christians have not even been to bat yet. We already know the outcome to the game, we have the Lord on our team, and we are going to win and keep on winning forever.
Discouraged? Not me…
