Some of my family and friends are amazed and even disturbed concerning some of my views about life and death. I fully realize that I have a spiritual purpose and unfinished work for the Lord that I need to fulfill while on this earth and I will work diligently to more fully understand that purpose and try my utmost to fulfill my purpose as the Lord allows. Further I have family and friends whom I love with all of my heart and immensely enjoy being around and I intend to enjoy every minute that I can with them as the Lord allows.

With all of that said I do look forward to my own death. Huh? I realize that my views might not be the norm, and in fact few of those closest to me think I am normal, not only in this capacity but in “any” capacity. Well if you asked me “normal” is not all that it is cracked up to be, and I would rather be a little crazy and that way I do not have to explain my bizarre behavior and views. Call me crazy, but I cannot understand how any “born again” Christian would not highly anticipate and look forward to eternal life in heaven with Jesus Christ. The only way to reach heaven is to die or be swept up in the Rapture and for that reason I look forward to having served my time in this world and moving on to my next great adventure. I also realize that death is the natural order of things and very soon, (looking at it from the long term, everlasting eternal life, perspective), I will be joined by my loved ones when the Lord calls them home too.

My faith in the Lord is strong. I have read the Bible numerous times cover to cover. Parts of it I do not understand and never will, (at least in this lifetime), but I believe every word of it. The Bible describes heaven in some detail. Although Paul likened our understanding of spiritual mysteries as akin to looking into a dirty mirror, anyone who has studied the Bible and really believes it, has to come away thinking the way that I think. Heaven is filled with indescribable joy, peace, and happiness. There is no hatred, disease, sadness, stress, jealousy, death, war, terrorists, abuse; just unadulterated pure love. Death is a promotion compared to life in this world; make no mistake about it.

Well why not just commit suicide and get on with it? Go back and read the first paragraph of this posting. We were created for a purpose. Unlike some folks who believe that their purpose is “their” purpose, we were created to serve “God’s” purpose and not our own. God’s purpose for you and for me is spiritual in nature and has nothing to do with the world or the things in the world. He will bless us with wonderful family and friends to enjoy during our stay here, but make no doubt about it we were created to serve a purpose for God and when “He” determines our work is finished, that is it regardless if there is unfinished business that “we” might think is important from a worldly perspective or not.

We should try our utmost to find God’s purpose for our being and fulfill it prior to our departure, as this is not a dress rehearsal; this is our one and only shot at this world as we know it. We should love and appreciate our family, friends, and other blessings from the Lord as He intended for us, (Consider that if God did not intend for us to enjoy the things that we have, He would not have blessed us with them in the first place). We should enjoy our blessings and life in this world, but not get more hung up on “them” than on “Him”!

Do you know what your purpose is? Why are you part of God’s creation? Can you honestly answer that in the affirmative? I cannot answer that for you, nor can anyone else. It is however a safe bet that your purpose is not to satisfy your own shallow fleshly desires and goals. God states it far better than I, so please read the following and think about your purpose on this earth today and then do something about fulfilling it.

1 John 2:15
Do not love the world, or the
things in the world. If anyone loves
the world, the love of the Father is
not in him.
For all that is of the world the
lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life is not of the
Father, but is of the world.
And the world is passing away,
and the lust of it; but he who does
the will of God abides forever.
