I get really tired of hearing my unsaved friends tell me how they think that God will let them into heaven because they are a “good” person. These people choose to ignore basic Biblical teachings as the Bible leaves no room for doubt that “all” have sinned and have broken God’s strict and holy laws. The Bible indicates that God is a just judge and it makes it crystal clear that the designated punishment for “any” sin is death. This is spiritual death and is in part eternal separation from God. In order to be a “just judge”, one must enforce the law without prejudice. If someone is found guilty, then the appropriate punishment must be meted out. Again according to the Bible there is no doubt that “God who cannot lie” will judge every person who has ever lived and those found guilty of sin will have to pay for that sin. That will be everyone who ever lived.
How can we escape eternal separation which is our just punishment for our sins? God did provide a way for reunification. Jesus paid a sustitutionary price for our sins. Jesus who never committed one sin, voluntarily sacrificed His life on the cross in our stead, and therein took the punishment for our sins upon Himself for us. The Bible states that God found this sacrifice to be acceptable and has stated that He will forgive us our sins based upon what Jesus did and accordingly will mark the sin debt paid in full for those who choose to accept and follow Jesus as their Savior. This enables us to join God forever in paradise in spite of our sin judgment.
So we have a choice. Either pay our sin debt ourselves and be eternally separated, or let Jesus pay our sin debt for us and be restored. I choose Jesus. My debt has been paid and I will be eternally grateful for what Jesus did for me. The Bible states that God will not be mocked and He is angry every day with the wicked. I would not want to face an angry God, would you?
Psalms 7:11
God is a just judge,
And He is angry with the
wicked every day.
God’s anger is no small thing
