I have been watching with interest the killer in NYC. He seems proud that he shot an innocent man in the back killing him and depriving his family of Christmas joy among other things. He did not even know the guy; he just knew that he represented healthcare insurance. Now comes a madman who plowed his vehicle into a German crowd at a high rate of speed killing no telling how many and injuring dozens more. Then there are the Venezuelan gang members who tortured a couple for four hours, tying them up, pistol whipping them, and ripping off the fingernails from the woman’s fingers.

I could go on but what is up with the violence? Subway beatings, mugging on the street are commonplace. Where is the remorse? There is not any, that is where it is. Our society is in a dark cruel phase and the light from Jesus is nowhere to be seen. Where there is light there cannot be darkness. In other words, our world needs God and we need Him now.

Alas Christmas at the time Jesus was brought into this dark world it wasn’t much different. King Herod ordered his men to kill all children under two years old thus requiring the family of Jesus to relocate to Egypt, the Romans were barbarically persecuting anyone who got out of line, and Jesus was born in a lowly stable to an unwed mother (God’s Holy Spirit conceived Him but the world was not aware at the time with just a few exceptions).

Our lives are not that much different today judging from the headlines. War, tyranny, cruelty, perversion, violence, you name it!

But He soon overcame it all and changed the world! At just 33 years old Jesus was crucified and died for all those wicked sins of the world that had ever been committed. It is incredible that He left us believers with so much hope. Only Love could have made Him do it.  Think about this while celebrating His birth, death, and resurrection won’t you?

Romans 10:9
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”
