Someone that I really like and have taken an interest in through the years is distressing me greatly. Unfortunately he has come to the conclusion that when he passes on, “the man upstairs” is going to pull out a big ledger and decide whether he has been good or bad and that will determine his eternal destiny. In his mind I guess he thinks he is good enough to make it in. I suppose he has decided to ignore the Bible and the terrible sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on his behalf and all of the warnings.
It seems so simple to accept Jesus Christ as one’s Savior, I am always perplexed and mystified as to why it is so hard for someone to accept. The Bible is solid and has not been disproved over thousands of years, not even one word. No other spiritual writings can make such a claim. Jesus lived, died an excruciating death on the cross to pay for our sins, and rose again in order that we might see paradise and be with Him once again. According to His holy word there is no other way to be reunited, but through Him. We cannot be “good” enough on our own to satisfy His holy laws.
I will continue to pray for this young man but he like all of humanity has a free will and I cannot force him to accept Jesus. This young person is greatly influenced by his family and he is super close to them. According to him, they do not accept Jesus Christ as their Savior either and I’m sure they have influenced him greatly through the years. Loving one’s family is a wonderful thing; however I would not let that deter me one iota when considering my eternal destiny. When we die we will face God alone. Our mother father, spouse, brothers, sisters, cousins, et al, will not accompany us. I and many Christians like me will not be alone. We will have an advocate standing right by our side and His name is Jesus Christ. He will tell my Father the almighty holy Judge that my sins have already been paid for on the cross and to let me enter into heaven. Thank God for that as I know I cannot enter on my own merit and am VERY thankful that Jesus did what He did.
Please if you have young children, take them to church and teach them this simple message. Family is important in shaping the belief system of our young children. It grieves me to no end to think of all my non-Christian friends spending eternity totally separated from God, the Light of all creation. How much more so would it grieve someone to know that one of their own children might spend eternity in Hell because we would not bring them up in a good Christian environment where they can learn to pray and read the Bible and go to church to worship?
John 3:16
For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son
that whoever believes in Him should
not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send His Son
into the world to condemn the world,
but the world through Him
might be saved.
He who believes in Him is not
condemned; but he who does not
believe is condemned already, because
he has not believed in the name of
the only begotten Son of God.
Cannot get to heaven by being good
