It is amazing to me how we inherit the traits of our fathers and mothers. It seems my kids blame me for every infirmity they have, (but incredulously take complete credit themselves for every positive trait they have). I have more of my mother’s traits than my father’s. My brother had more of my father’s than my mother. We were opposite in many ways, but we were brothers and in the final analysis it was always obvious that we were Williamsons.
We are all descendants of Adam and Eve. The negative they passed down through the centuries is sin, and its result, revelation of the law, judgment and condemnation. We all suffer from our inherited traits from our ancestors in this regard. The Bible teaches that sin came to the world through one man, but fortunately so did grace; however, Jesus Christ our Lord’s grace cannot be obtained through being born by natural means. We must be born again’ in order that we might inherit Christ’s righteousness so that it might reign in our lives.
Our heavenly Father found a way for us to repair our bad genetics and He made it very easy to do. We do not have to undergo surgery or bone marrow transplants or spend years in painful intensive therapy. We do not have to re-enter the womb and be born. We simply must accept Christ as our Savior and repent of our sins. Jesus stands and waits for you and me to be made whole and to perfect ourselves through His righteousness. Guess what? It is not painful and when we pass on to our eternal abode, we even get a new body out of the deal. Yep, if you are going bald, are too short, too tall, too loud, too quiet, too thin, too heavy, if your feet and nose are too big, or whatever, when you are born again, odds are that your new glorified body will be free from defects and you will not have to spend one nickel on plastic surgery or the diet of the century!
Romans 5: 18
Therefore as through one man’s
offense judgment came to all men,
resulting in condemnation, even so
through one Man’s righteous act
the free gift came to all men, resulting
in justification of life
So that as sin reigned in death,
even so grace might reign through
righteousness to eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.
