For several weeks the Speaker of the House election has ensued in congress. The election is finally over, and the victor is Mike Johnson, (R LA).

I do not think a finer choice could have been made. He said Wednesday there are no coincidences in life. In other words, he acknowledges that providence played a key role in his speakership victory. Simply put, he believes that God is playing a protective and spiritual role in his life.

The newly elected speaker who brought his personal Bible to his swearing-in process said concerning the Bible, “I make no apologies”. He unabashedly declared the Holy Bible to be his worldview. (His belief of the Bible as the living word of God is how he views the world at large).

Speaking from the House after a unanimous GOP vote, (the first since 2011), Johnson spoke to the chamber about his belief in God’s plan for his life and for the lives of his fellow lawmakers:

“I want to tell all my colleagues here what I told the Republicans in that room last night; I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a matter like this. I believe that Scripture, the Bible, is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you, all of us, and I believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of us to be brought here for this specific moment in this time.

This is my belief. I believe that each one of us has a huge responsibility today to use the gifts that God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great country — and they deserve it — and to ensure that our republic remains standing as the great beacon of light and hope and freedom in a world that desperately needs it.

Speaker Johnson told the media on Thursday that the entirety of his worldview could be found if one would simply “go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it.”

Wow! Now that is making a statement. Above all else, Mike Johnson is a strong Christian. He’s not afraid to look to his faith for guidance. America needs that belief system more than ever in the U.S. House and in the political spectrum at large.

My wife and I pray daily that God will evangelize those who are lost and bring a lost nation to a worldview like Mike Johnson’s. I ask you to also pray for revival in this nation and ask yourself what the will of God in your life is.

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
