I have often wished that I could interpret dreams as the prophets of the Old Testament did. Joseph became the favorite of pharaoh when he explained the meaning of a troubling dream of seven fat cows and seven skinny cows to him. The seven gaunt, ugly cows ate up the fat fine
looking cows. All of pharaoh’s magicians, seers, and various and
sundry fortune tellers and medicine men could not interpret this dream.
Joseph through help from the Lord, explained that the fat cows represented seven years of plenty whereby Egypt would harvest enormously, that was to be followed by seven years of famine represented by the skinny cows. He told him to fill his granaries during the good times and there would be enough to last during the bad. This would make him rich(er) in the process, when the rest of the world, not privy to this forecast, would flock to buy from Egypt. It worked like a charm and Joseph became pharaoh’s “right hand man”.
I had an awful dream the other night. I have had dreams whereby I could see and hear, but this was the first time I have dreamed that I could actually smell during my dream. I dreamed that I was smelling under my arm and it smelled so bad that I almost threw up. It was horrible. It smelled worse than any stinking, sweaty person, devoid of both bath and deodorant that I had ever smelled. In fact it was much worse! I woke up gagging. Just to be sure that it was indeed a dream, I tentatively took a sniff to confirm. ( Everything was fine, it was a dream!) This dream had such an effect on me that I could not go back to sleep and it has been on my mind ever since. Why in the world would I dream such a dream. If I were called into the pharaoh in Washington D.C. to explain this dream, what would I say? I realize that interpretations of dreams come from God and I know that He would not waste His time on something this stupid, but just for fun I thought I would like to take a stab at it on my own. I pondered this for a day or so and then while fishing yesterday it came to me. I think that I would tell him that this arms deal that is being cooked up in congress stinks to high heaven. Why sell high technology weaponry to other countries in the name of peace?
At the risk of sounding like a liberal, (yuck!), I think that we should give this arms deal a rest and should try the lyrics of the liberal John Lennon and, “Just give peace a chance”. Do you think that I could get on Oprah with this?
