My wife and I almost got hit by a tornado on Easter Sunday morning. We got up early Sunday to go to church and were driving through the pouring rain when we spotted a tornado funnel coming right towards us on the other side of the median on I-20. It was a huge, black and evil looking funnel snaking towards our car. I slammed on the brakes and slid off the road and in a second it passed by about 20 feet off the ground and within 200 yards of us.
We encountered fierce winds and junk flying around and then just heavy rain.
WHEW! My heart was pounding and my throat was dry. My wife was badly shaken, as was I. I thanked God for delivering us. Close calls like this always remind me of how close we all are to perishing at any moment. I don’t like to be preoccupied with my impending death, but an event such as this one does put into perspective just how fragile our lives are on this earth. The Bible teaches that our lives in this world are like a vapor, here for a moment and then they disappear. I am just like a Boy Scout though, I am prepared. I have Jesus who has promised to take care of me for the rest of
eternity. Are you prepared?
