It seems I misquoted a verse yesterday I humbly apologize. The correct verse should have been Matthew 22:9 instead of Matthew 2:29. Thanks to all you eagle eyed friends keep up the good work.

Along with millions of other people I have been fervently praying that Gabby Petito would be found alive and well. Sadly, such does not seem to be the case and though the authorities are keeping it quiet, it is widely believed that she was found dead. Brian Laundrie her boyfriend appears to be the prime suspect and now he has disappeared, I feel sure he has gone on the run as authorities began closing in on him.

I was praying about this as I viewed some photos of the couple in happier times and then I saw a photo of Gabby crying her eyes out after they had apparently engaged in a fight with each other. Not long afterwards she disappeared. It is so sad to see someone lose their life due to a murder, especially someone who is merely 22 years old.

I wondered if Adam and Eve grieved over their son Able when Cain murdered him. And I wondered if they wanted to protect Cain as Laundrie’s parents seem to be doing with him. Nothing is said about it in the Bible, but I would imagine they were as grief stricken as Gabby’s parents are today – Don’t have a clue about them protecting Cain though.

In Genesis we receive the following information concerning the murder of Abel and its ramifications: Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”

“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”

God then put a mark on Cain to prevent him from being killed by others and he was banished to living out his days under God’s curse.

And so the first murder occurred and many more have been murdered since that cursed day. I cannot conceive of hearing God tell me: Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. Now I wonder if modern day murderers from abortionists to gang bangers in Chicago have read this and have believed. They may have read it, but surely they don’t believe because their does not seem to be repentance.

I’m studying Isaiah and it is clear what is soon to happen with the righteous and unrighteous. Read chapter four if curious, but to sum it up: “Say to the righteous that it will be well with them for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

Woe to the wicked it shall be ill with him for the reward of his hands shall be given him.”

Such a shame that people don’t heed these warnings beginning with Cain who was cursed by GodHhimself to modern day murderers. Time is running out.

But alas they do not. Sins can only be forgiven by Jesus, and we must ask for forgiveness, and repent. We must also acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins. We are all guilty of sin and we can flip God off and arrogantly say: “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Or we can fall on our face and say Father please forgive me for I have sinned.

Do you want it well with your soul or do you desire a sick soul? Only Jesus can make any of us righteous. Keep your soul healthy and follow Him.

It is well with my soul
