I don’t watch the news at home anymore but saw a few clips of it at a friend’s house a few days ago and it appears that Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats stand to lose the mid-term elections and the majority in the House. I wonder if it will make much difference; I hope so.
Gas prices are way up in the Keys and every builder and construction contractor with whom I speak tells me lumber and other construction materials are off the charts. A friend told me that Biden is talking up a 44% capital gains tax which goes on top of other taxes and in some cases, entrepreneurs will be taxed at a rate over 60%. That should effectively stop investment and will be especially hard on the middle class.
It’s getting ugly around the country on the social side of things too. Biden ordered that homosexual flags be flown at every embassy around the world. Planned Parenthood is demanding more funding for abortions and so on. Race relations in cities is the worst it’s been in my lifetime and police cannot even arrest them in some cases. Illegal immigrants are streaming into the country by the thousands daily.
Aside from spiritual issues such as Christian persecution and shutting down of churches, I’m most bothered by abortion and homosexuality being promoted in spite of the Bible’s declaration that they are dark sins.
I’m sickened that we are losing free speech in this country, a bastion of freedom for the entire world. This so-called WOKE business makes me want to gag. Personally, I don’t give a whit about Twitter, Facebook, Google or any of the rest of the godless tech companies. I’m not beholding to any big corporation, “celebrity,” government handout, or fear of public humiliation if I say something some clown doesn’t like. Unfortunately, I think many people are gutless and try to blend in whether they agree or not and pastors lead the way in many communities.
I tried my utmost for months to convince people not to vote for the progressive communist/socialist agenda, but some of you reading this did vote for them. Do you regret it?
You should!
Last night at my men’s Bible study class as we ate pizza we were fellowshipping prior to the class. Some of the guys are young and just now starting families and they were talking about ultrasound technology and how much detail they can see now of their unborn child. One man exclaimed that it was like taking a snapshot of his unborn daughter in the womb. Imagine this evil society condoning taking that precious child’s life after seeing the photos. And they want to make abortion more available and some even promote infanticide.
I’m sad I even saw some of the news. I suppose some might say I’m like an ostrich sticking its head in the sand and pretending danger doesn’t exist. Oh contrar my friends I see, feel, and hear the danger, but I have an all-powerful God who will set things right and I have faith that He will set things right in His timing. In Psalm 58 David asks the Lord to “break the teeth” of the wicked, a phrase he often used. He closed the Psalm with what seems to be a brutal passage, but all things considered, I suppose he was sick and tired of the wicked and especially with them seemingly getting away with their sin. I’m with David and like his thoughts on a remedy.
Psalms 58:8
May they be like a slug that melts away as it moves along,
like a stillborn child that never sees the sun.
Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns—
whether they be green or dry—the wicked will be swept away.
The righteous will be glad when they are avenged,
when they wash their feet in the blood of the wicked.
Then people will say,
“Surely the righteous still are rewarded;
surely there is a God who judges the earth.”
