What do you think of when the Thanksgiving holiday rolls around? Turkey and dressing, family gatherings, time off from work, deer hunting, vacations? That is usually what comes to my mind.
Recently I faced a potentially life threatening situation. Prior to taking the deciding “test” to determine the outcome, I went to my Bible, shut my eyes and flipped through the pages. I was in hopes God would give me some reassurance. When I opened my eyes, the first page I read went something like this: “I am a mighty God and I will surely deliver those who love me in a mighty way…” That settled it for me. The Lord’s peace surrounded me and I went into my test with a sense of calm.
I repeated the verse as they wheeled me into the operating room. I told
myself: “I love God, He is mighty and He will surely deliver me in a mighty way”. Sure enough I did just fine. I now have the proper medication to avoid problems in the future, and God is good all the time.
This Thanksgiving all I can think of is being thankful to God. Not just for delivering me from a life threatening situation, but for everything He has done for me. First and foremost for sending Jesus to reconcile me to Him forever through His grace, but also for allowing me to be an American. He has allowed me to live in a land that is free. Where there is respect for the dignity of people everywhere of every race and gender. I think Him for my wonderful family.
This Thanksgiving remember God. He is truly something for which to be thankful.

Psalms 100:4
Enter into His gates with
thanksgiving,
and into His court with
praise.
Be thankful to Him and bless
His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
and His truth endures to all
generations.
Thanksgiving
