Recently I was taken to task by one of our employees who had attended a meeting that I conducted in which I used profanity. This person asked:
“How can you write Words for the Day in the morning and then use profanity later in the day?” I do apologize for that, but with all due respect, just because I write Words for the Day does not mean I am a
saint. I am a sinner like every other human being on this planet. I
am very disappointed in myself on a daily basis for a variety of stupid things that I do. God is disappointed, others around me are disappointed, everyone is disappointed but satan. He is delighted to see someone who is a Christian commit a sin. He is particularly happy when someone, (who has a higher profile than normal), publicly commits a sin and by so doing, perhaps influences someone to lose respect for God.
I am particularly unhappy if that person being the bad influence is me.
What can be done about it? Try harder and ask God to surround us with protection. The Bible teaches that satan is not an adversary that can be dealt with alone. He has power that we do not have. He knows what our weaknesses are and goes after them with a vengeance. I believe that his attacks are more fierce on those who publicly take a stand for Jesus. Nothing hurts the cause of Jesus more than a man of God who falls. Jim Baker and Jimmy Swaggart proved that. Unfortunately even those of us who love God with all of our hearts fail Him miserably from time to time.
I am tempted to stop writing Words for the Day, but I can see satan chuckling about that option now, and I refuse to give him the satisfaction. I ask those who are reading this to take a moment to ask
God to give me strength. I also ask that God and His message not be
blamed for my frailties when I stumble. The reason Jesus had to come to this earth is because we cannot always obey the law. Nonetheless we should try.
By the way, it took courage to face me down about this incident. I am glad that this person took the risk. The Bible instructs Christians to help those who stray to get back in line.

James 5:19
Brethren, if anyone among you
wanders from the truth, and
someone turns him back,
let him know that he who turns
a sinner from the error of his way
will save a soul from death and
cover a multitude of sins.
