Waste

My wife has no concept of how to buy provisions. Ever since we became “empty nesters” and my “human vacuum cleaner” sons went to college, we end up throwing away food in obscene quantities. She fails to understand that there are just two of us now and she need not buy as much, nor cook as much as she did when the human vacuum cleaners lived with us and ate everything in sight.
I cringe when I think of all of the people around the world who desperately need the food that we throw away. The same holds true when I eat out. The restaurant always serves three times more than a “normal” person would care to eat. Trash cans end up devouring tons of perfectly good food daily. What a waste!

This problem reminds me of Christians. Some of us lead lives whereby we never share what we have with anyone else. What a waste! Hunger might be eliminated if the waste in America was simply given to the those who are hungry. Just imagine what would happen if all Christians who are wasting their lives by not witnessing to anyone would witness to others about Jesus. Instead many live their lives and die without having witnessed to anyone, even one time. Have you told anyone how to become a Christian lately? Ever?

Jesus directed us to evangelize the world. He does not want us to waste our precious time on this earth. He said there are vast fields of human souls that are ripe for the harvest, but the laborers are few. More laborers are needed. Don’t waste your talents and throw away your opportunities. Put them to good use and feed the hungry. I know that many of you are afraid that you will not know what to say. Pray about this because this is satan talking to you. The Bible plainly tells us that the Lord will teach you what to say at the proper time. You have to take the first step. Try it today and see how easy it is. You will not ever regret it – I guarantee it.
