God put us here for HIS purpose. If we are not in line with what He wants us to be doing, we cannot achieve peace. I have personally experienced being outside of the will of God for my life on more than one occasion. It is not pleasant. I feel very uneasy and cannot rest.
My sleep under normal circumstance is fitful at best, but when I’m outside the will of God for my life, sleep is non-existent. I am usually pretty miserable until I get back on track.

Sometimes it is very difficult to ascertain what God wants us to do with ourselves. Indeed He does not just “appear” across the desk from us and give us our daily instructions. This has been a source of frustration for me. I really want to accomplish whatever purpose he wants me to accomplish with my life. Sometimes it is simply maddening for me to try and figure it out under the guidelines that God has established for us.
For some good reason to which I am not privy, God has decided not to communicate our direct “marching orders” to us. He has given us the Bible to help guide us. Christians also have the luxury of the Holy Spirit residing within us to act as a guiding influence and conscience.
We are told to pray and seek the counsel of other Godly people to help make our decisions. But in the final analysis it takes much effort on our part to find our mission in life and stay the course. Our direction comes from deep within and is gentle. It is more of a feeling, and not an order shouted to us or written in the sky. It will require sincere effort on our part and constant prayer.

Often it takes so long to find my answer, I have wondered if God was even listening. What if He does not want me to be a President of a corporation? Should I go on a missionary trip? Should I attend Sunday School or teach Sunday School? It is not easy to always pick the right choice, but I experience trouble at every turn and unhappiness when I’m off track. The Bible tells us that if we ask we will receive. It tells us to be persistent and not to get impatient, (like me). God sometimes takes His good time before answering and I believe that He does it to teach us patience and perseverance and sometimes this process is more beneficial to me than the answer to my puzzle. The main thing is that we should diligently seek God’s purpose for our lives and when we find it we should do our best to fulfill it.
