So today I’m heading to the Florida keys for 45 days. The journey has not been without drama. I’m hauling my two boats down there. One is quite large and a friend who has a similar boat volunteered to trailer it down using his large truck and trailer. I’m pulling my other boat with my pickup truck and trailer.
So as the trip drew near, I could not reach my friend by phone. I called and called and left messages, but – Nothing! So yesterday I left our home at Honey Lake Plantation and drove down to Port St. Lucie, where my boats are located, and I still had not heard from him. With no way to trailer seeming imminent, I decided to just drive the boat down by water, but a big cold front came in with strong winds and the seas are very rough. So I faced a dilemma I am supposed to fish a big tournament this weekend and without my boat my plans and my five crewmates’ plans would be destroyed along with lost entry fees, and so on.
I decided to call the guy once again. Nothing!
So, I thought maybe I can find a commercial company to haul it down for me. We called around and found a transport company that would haul it down there for $1000, but they told us that they had to know for sure by 5:00 yesterday along with a deposit. I decided to wait until 4:00 and if I hadn’t heard from my friend, I would give them the green light. Nothing!
So at 4:00 I sighed and started dialing the number and suddenly I got an incoming call; my friend finally called and said his brother was just a few minutes away and would be there in minutes. Apparently he had dropped his phone and broken it and could not call. I took the boat over to a loading ramp and we pulled it out of the water and today both boats will arrive in the keys, Lord willing.
This little story reminds me of how prayer sometimes works. We pray and pray and pray – Nothing! And just when we begin thinking that our prayer is not being heard and will never be answered, BOOM SON! We are on our way.
Don’t give up hope my friends.
James 1:12
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
