I was reading about the Jewish man who prevented additional deaths in the most recent synagogue shooting by attacking the shooter unarmed. He didn’t even have a gun but ran after the guy screaming with such fierceness that the shooter dropped his weapon and ran away.
He was hailed as a hero, but his interview revealed he was very modest. One thing he said that stuck with me was he was just an “ordinary guy.” He goes to work everyday to a non-descript job, loves his family and his faith. He stated the lady who was shot and killed by stepping in front of a rabbi was the sweetest old lady anyone could ever meet. He elaborated that so many people claim that they hate all Jews because they supposedly run everything in the world, but he is a Jew and doesn’t run anything. He’s just like the vast majority of people in the country, he is a man who is trying to get through life the best he knows how.
Unfortunately, the world is becoming more and more anti-Semitic on a daily basis. The New York Times just ran an anti-Semitic cartoon in their paper and were forced to apologize, but then promptly ran another two days later. Jewish synagogues, graveyards, and other Jewish entities are defaced with graffiti and are violently attacked more frequently, and anti-Semitism has become a worldwide dilemma, especially in Europe. This gentleman said that he believed the hatred was emanating from the violence and hatred espoused on media including social media.
I disagree. Satan is not only the “father of all lies” he is the father of hatred. The media is merely one tool used by Satan and his minions to create chaos and distribute hatred be it political, religious, racial, or one’s standing in life, (rich vs, poor.)
Jesus loves us all and wants us to love each other. It begins by recognizing individuals as fellow human beings and not as entire groups. All Hispanics don’t belong to MS13, nor do all blacks belong to the Crips or Bloods, all Muslims are not terrorists, all whites don’t hate people of color, all rich folks don’t refrain from helping the poor, and so on.
We have all known individuals who are the diametric opposite of the stereotype to which they supposedly belong. To hate entire groups of people is satanic, pure and simple. If and when you do it, you are doing Satan’s will.
As with many of Satan’s devices the Bible predicts anti-Semitism will become the acceptable norm and clearly indicates that when armies begin encircling Israel the End is near. It is sickening to see so many in our own country become a part of it. It would seem that most would have learned from Hitler and the holocaust.
Today many Democrats are trying to abandon Israel. Note that I didn’t say ALL Democrats, but the political party. There are individual Democrats within it that are resisting anti-Semitism; many also dislike the thought of aborting innocent babies, especially those who survive the abortion; and there are even those who realize that God’s laws are not mere suggestions and His law concerning marriage, (one man and one woman joining together in marriage and becoming one) is defined in the Bible.
My prayer is that Christians can take the high road like Jesus did. The Jews despised and hated Samaritans, but Jesus ministered to them just as He did with everyone. His is an all-inclusive love of taking people as they come according to what is in their hearts. Shouldn’t we do the same? We are His church and He is the One who ordains how we should act.
Galatians 5:14
For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
