Sometimes I think of life as a book. When I do not understand something such as experiencing the problems associated with this world, I try to be patient and wait until the next chapter of my life unfolds. God assures us that all things work together for good. Although we often cannot understand His purpose in the things we experience and indeed may never understand, the Bible teaches us that everything works together for good. People can espouse and rail all day long about not understanding how a loving God can allow some of the things in this evil world to go on, but the fact of the matter is that we have not finished living the last chapter of the book. Until we are finished, we will likely never understand. I know that God loves us enough that He sent His Son Jesus from His rightful place in heaven to this filthy world to die an excruciating death and take the punishment for our sins in order that we may live. I know God loves us!
Why does He allow evil to persist? I assume when the time is right and He is ready for me to know, He will share that portion of the book with me. In the meantime, I try not to focus on that, rather to focus on what I can do for Him while I live through this phase of my existence. To me that is what faith is about. I do not question God’s motives, nor do I presume to question God’s plan for His creation. I was created much lower and even if I was on the same level, which I am not, He is privy to far more information about creation than I am.
A simple analogy to the information issue is easy for me to understand. Many employees may question and indeed do question my plans and actions that I take on behalf of our company as CEO, but not one of them knows “everything” that I know about our company and/or its employees and their situations. Without access to the same information, they cannot fully understand why certain things are done. Unless I specifically go around and tell each one of them everything that I know, they could not be expected to understand or agree with some decisions that are made at the highest levels that utilize that information that they are not privy to. In the end I may not share information for many different reasons. I may not have the time or resources to do such a thing, and/or it may be very sensitive confidential employee related information, and/or they may not understand how to comprehend it if I gave it to them, or I simply may not want to share everything that I know with every employee in the company. Without full access to “all” of the information, it may seem natural to question everything. If, however, they want peace in their work lives, they simply must have faith in the CEO and that the right decisions will be made. If something is done that they really do not understand, they must assume that they only know a small portion of the story and the CEO has more and must have a good reason for doing whatever it is that they are questioning. In order to have peace they must have faith in the CEO who is only human. That is much more difficult than having faith in God Almighty!
God has given us all of the information that He wants us to have and all that we need for now in the Bible and He has written things in our heart and spirit. We should have complete faith in Him. To question the motives or the rules of God is utterly ridiculous and I believe is an insult to God. I can only imagine how it makes Him feel to have people question His goodness when He looks at Jesus and His nail scarred hands and feet. Think about it! God loves you and He loves me. He is almighty God who created everything. How does any mere human flesh that “He” created from dust dare to question His motives?
