During my 44-year career as a CEO there was one thing that I would not tolerate from employees and that was lying.  It was literally a firing offense and was listed in our employee manual as such.  My reasoning was that if someone lied to me once, then I would always question whether they were lying when subsequent conversations were conducted.

How can anyone trust a liar? So, it is with disgust that I watch hearings like the one conducted for President Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen who has lied, been convicted of crimes including lying, been disbarred, and is going to prison. Does anyone in his right mind think that he is being truthful? Or the media covering the event? Or the politicians trying to score political points by using his testimony?

I read an article the other day about our civilization nearing its end. We were compared to the Roman Empire. The Roman population became morally decadent, the family unit began to disappear, society craved seeing blood spilled in violent ways. Politicians became corrupt and rulers emerged who completely did away with the Senate. They spent money they didn’t have, fought wars they could not afford and so on until they collapsed.

Christians were greatly persecuted during these times, but the Roman Empire has disappeared, and Christians are still here. Poetic justice? Yes, we are still being persecuted all over the world, but revival after revival has emerged through the centuries bringing with it the love of Christ, peace, and joy. I pray often for revival. I dream of a time when a liar is treated like an outcast instead of becoming an idol akin to Bill Clinton after it was proven that he lied about having an affair with Monica Lewinsky.

There are many religious events taking place these days and many have as their stated goal ushering in revival. Please join me in praying for the Lord to bring us revival. Remember it must start with the Holy Spirit and not flesh Psalm 85:6 “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” Remember prayer, confession, and repentance stirs the Spirit. We need revival in this country and around the world!

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
