The Bible is not real clear, at least to me, as to when we die, whether or not we immediately go to heaven or we “sleep” until the rapture and then join our Father. There are some references to rising from the grave; however the clearest indication to me that we are instantly with the Lord is the picture that Jesus painted for us while on the cross. One of the criminals who was being crucified with Jesus that day while on the cross believed in Jesus and Jesus told him, ” Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise”. He did not say that he had to stay in his grave asleep until the rapture, He said “Today”.
The greatest comfort one can derive when the death of a loved one who knows Jesus occursis this promise. Even after two years, I still mourn the death of my brother with a heavy heart and unspeakable sadness; however I am comforted to know that he is in paradise with Jesus. Without that comfort, how much harder would his death be to bear? Do you know someone who is lost? Talk to them about the Lord before it is too late. Time passes quickly.
How well do you know the Bible?
Wives, husbands, children and fathers are all given responsibilities in Colossians 18-21, but one responsibility was earmarked as being “well-pleasing to the Lord”. Was this instruction directed towards wives, husbands, children, or fathers?
___________
Luke 24:7
The Son of Man must
be delivered into the hands of sinful
men, and be crucified, and the third
day rise again.”
