Recently I heard a candidate for public office exhorting his belief that because the United States of America is the wealthiest nation in the world and we enjoy the highest standard of living that no person living within our borders should ever go hungry. I respectfully disagree, in that the Bible tells us that we, (able bodied people), should work for our sustenance. I just returned from Washington DC and it seems that the entire city is over-run by those who want some special give-away program. The budget could be balanced and our taxes simultaneously lowered if those elected officials ever once realized that welfare and give-away programs should be for the truly needy, those who are too lazy to work and simply refuse to work and want to stand around on the corner getting high on crack and wine should go hungry.

How well do you know the Bible?
Most Christians have heard about the “Great Commission” whereby Jesus instructed the disciples to make disciples of all nations. Did Jesus give this command before, during, or after His crucifixion and death on the cross?
Matt. 28:18-20
