One problem non-Christians have is that they do not understand the concept of needing salvation. Most people are enamored by themselves and think they are pretty good people. I sincerely believe that those of us who have made serious mistakes in their lives can come to know the Lord easier and appreciate salvation far more than those who have lived decent and ordinarylives. The Bible teaches that we have all sinned and the least sin committed is enough to send us to Hell. Christ’s blood was shed as a sacrifice for our sins and Jesus took our punishment. I know that I have sinned and deserve punishment, andI feel tremendous gratitude to Jesus for whatHe did for me. How about you? Do you feel that what you have done in your life should be grounds to send you to eternal damnation? Unfortunately, I’m afraid the true answer for many of you is no. Some feel that they have lived pretty decent lives and may have told a white lie or two, but certainly nothing too radical and that such a severe punishment does not fit the “crime”. Furthera loving God would not implement such a punishment, and hence lies the problem. Jesus said that the only way to the Father was through Him.He said thatALL have sinned, the path to Hell is wide and many will go down it. Thepath to salvation is narrow.Now He is either telling the truth, or He is lying.
We are but mere mortals and God is holy and pure. His laws and ways are higher than ours. Being righteous to God is completely sin free, never telling a lie, even a “white” lie,always loving your neighbor, no lusting for anything, always loving God with all of our heart and soul, etc. We cannot measure up to this. Sin is an inherited disease and ispart of everyone’s DNA, and the only cure for it is the blood of Jesus Christ.Salvation begins with understanding the need for salvation, followed by a deep appreciation for what Jesus did to save us from ourselves.

Isaiah 55:6
Seek the lord while He may be
found.
Let the wicked forsake his
way,
And the unrighteous man his
thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And he will have mercy on
him;
And to our God,
For he will abundantly pardon.

How well do you know the Bible?
Jesus told a parableabout those who trust in themselves to be righteous and those who know they have a need for God in their lives. What was it?
Luke 18:10
