Everyone seems to understand that when one is really sick that they belong in the hospital. What is puzzling to me is that these same people do not readily understand that all sinners belong in church, including hypocrites. It is an age old thing for some folks to avoid church, because there are hypocrites in church. I say what better place for them to be? What better place to be than in the House of the Lord whereby sinners can hear the Word of God preached and where the Spirit of God resides with God’s healingpower? OK, so you go to church and you have to sit next to a hypocrite. Take a look around, every person in the church is a sinner including you. We all are in the same boat, we are sinners in need of Jesus Christ. Sinners, including hypocrites are at your work place too, they are at the ball park, the grocery store, the movie theater; we cannot avoid them as theyare everywhere.Church is the only place however thatcan effectively deal with our sins.
It is important for all of us to understand that hypocrites do not represent God, they represent themselves and are in dire need of God.Jesus used some of His harshest words describing hypocrites and it is obvious that He dislikes their actions even more than we do, yet somehow He and His church seem to get lambasted from some individuals because invariably every church will house a few hypocrites. Hypocritical behavior is not just limited to ordinary church members either; deacons, elders, choir members, ushers, and even a few preachers will occasionally succumb to this powerful tool of satan.
The Bible instructs us to go to church to worship God and to gather together in fellowship with other believers. I can tell you from personal experience that it is highly rewarding to go to church. In my own life’s experience, which I can assure you has been far-reaching, nothing I have ever experienced can even come close to comparing. Church prepares us for the upcoming week-long battle with the world, and is a special time to be with our holy Father. I wish everyone could experience the peace that comes from being in church and feeling the Spirit of God’s presence. Jesus promises in the infallible Bible that whenever even as few as two or three gather together to worship Him that He is right their in our midst. What an honor and a privilege that is! This is what God really intended for us.Don’t let a few hypocrites or anything else prevent you from having the best that this life will ever have to offer, being in church and worshipping with fellow believers right there in the awesome presence of almighty God. Don’t take my word for it, go to church this Sunday, ignore the hypocrites and other fleshly, worldly distractions and concentrate on prayerful worship, life-fulfilling fellowship, and celebration with Jesus and see for yourself.
