Some folks struggle with their prayer life. They pray and do not get exactly what they want, when they want it, and then get mad at God about it. Think of God as a righteous, holy, perfect Parent, as your Father and mine, for a moment. Parents do what is best for their children and no good parent will always just give their children whatever they want. Often children ask for things that are not in their best interests and parents protect them from it by denying their request. Kids may pout, but most of the time later in life they realize it was for their own good.

When I go to the Lord in prayer, I almost always add, Lord if it is within YOUR will, please see fit to bless me with the following… If you think about it, God knows exactly what we need before we ever ask. Make no mistake He wants us to ask anyway, the Bible has plenty of commands for us to pray without ceasing about everything in it, but He wants us to recognize that His holy and perfect will for our lives will be carried out according to his deadline and to what HE knows is best for us..

This week I will be doing the biggest presentation of my life. I am praying and have asked others to pray for me. I am not praying that I will win this huge deal for our company unless it is within the will of my Father. Im praying that I will do my best and that God will give me the strength, wisdom and clarity of thought to do so. I hope we win it, but if I do my absolute best and do not get it, I will accept it as not being the best thing for me and our company right now. Im sure I would be disappointed, but I would not get mad at God because He did not give me what I think would be best for me. Sometimes the answer to prayer is yes, sometimes it is no, and/or wait a while longer. I have tremendous faith in the Lord. He will never abandon me. He has performed many miracles in my life already and I am convinced that He will continue watching over me until I depart this world and on into the next for eternity. Remember that when we pray, we must have faith that God will always, ultimately provide the perfect answer.

James 1:4

But let patience have its perfect

work, that you may be perfect and

complete, lacking nothing.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let

him ask of God who gives to all

liberally and without reproach and

it will be given to him.

But let him ask in faith, with no

doubting, for he who doubts is like

a wave of the sea driven and tossed

by the wind.

For let not that man suppose that

he will receive anything from the

Lord;

he is a double-minded man,

unstable in all of his ways.

How well do you know the Bible?

John received his vision and inspiration from God for the Book of Revelation on what island?

Rev. 1:9
