Soon it will be Valentines Day. Millions of people will express their love to their spouse by buying a special card, flowers and/or a box of chocolates. Woe unto the hapless chap who forget this day. I was chastised last night by a young lady on a plane sitting next to me who asked if I had already bought a Valentines Day gift for my wife of thirty two years. I replied no and I dont intend to, and one would have thought that the world was ending. I have some friends and acquaintances like this whose spouses go ballistic if their spouse forgets this day or does not celebrate it. The same holds true for their anniversary. I say poppycock! There is nothing wrong with expressing ones love for ones spouse mind you; I just do not think that it is a true test of ones love to observe Valentines Day. It is what occurs day in and day out, not some arbitrary day that retailers have designated to sell cards, flowers and candy.

Just my Opinion…

The Bible tells us love is extremely important in our lives; not only our love for our Savior, but our love for each other. We should not express our love for the Lord one time a year either, such as by attending church at Easter; it should be a daily expression, and we need to go to church every Sunday. The same holds true for each other, if one loves someone, expressions of love should come daily, not on an appointed day. Want to know some of what the Bible states about love? Read below. (I didnt find anything in there about buying a dozen reds…)

1 Cor.13:4

Love suffers long and is kind;

love does not envy; love does not

parade itself, is not puffed up;

does not behave rudely, does not

seek its own, is not provoked;

thinks no evil;

does not rejoice in iniquity, but

rejoices in truth;

bears all things, believes all

things, hopes all things, endures all

things.

Love never fails…

How well do you know the Bible?

The Bible instructs us to abide in faith, hope and _____________. Fill in the blank. Which is most important? (What a hint!)

1 Cor.13:13
