Do unto others before they do unto you

Too many of us seem to adhere to the message above, instead of the Bibles message concerning one of Gods most important commands to us. God instructed us to love one another and to treat others as we would like to be treated. We dont see much of that, on the street anyway. From what I have experienced it seems that I can only find this philosophy being carried out by those who are Christians, and some Christians including me have a hard time with it sometimes. It is particularly difficult to do when we do not particularly care for the person involved, but we sometimes even treat the ones we love terribly.

I told one of my managers the other day that I felt that one of his biggest weaknesses was in treating people shabbily, and not considering others feelings. Before we act, we should stop and think how our actions affect those around us. Just give a little consideration to others before hurtful things are said or done. How would we want to be treated in an identical situation? We must consider that if Gods commands work outside the workplace they will work inside the workplace as well. We should treat others as we would like to be treated. This is not to say we should not discipline someone gone awry and treat them as if we were at a love-fest; indeed if I made a costly mistake, or refused to follow policies I would expect that there would be consequences. Meting out the consequence would be treating them as I would expect to be treated; however the punishment must fit the crime and carrying it out can be done in a professional manner without undue emotion in a mean-spirited fashion.

There is a song that states that What the world needs now is love, sweet love. Its the one thing there is too little of. It could also say that if we had it, there would be peace on earth. One day we will, but only after Jesus returns to setup His Millennial Kingdom. Until then we who are His followers must make a concentrated effort to follow this vitally important command. It is the one thing that truly separates us from the world.

John 15:12

This is my commandment,

that you love one another as I have

loved you.

How well do you know the Bible?

Before we can be forgiven our sins, we must first do what?

Mark 11:25
