All are horrific, but nothing compares to Child Rape for Profit.
As sick as it may seem, sex trafficking victims range in ages from infants to 17 years old with the median age being just 6-14. Very young children are most often targeted by traffickers because they are more profitable, less likely to have STD’s, are deemed easier to manipulate, and their demented clients desire them sexually for their innocence. The most money can be earned by younger girls, especially virgins, and as such are in greater demand.
Testimony reveals that 19% of identified sex offenders possessed pornographic images and videos of children younger than 3 years old – 39% younger than 6 years old – and 83% younger than 12 years old. Most predators admit to raping hundreds and even a thousand or more innocent children. One criminal was recently arrested in Canada with terabytes of child pornography images and videos including “snuff” films, (videos that literally show children being killed after they are ravaged).
When a child becomes a sex slave, “breaking the victims in” is the first order of business. Survivors have testified to being chained up in a bathroom and forced into heroin addiction. They are brutally and repeatedly raped by several different men, dozens of times per day for several weeks. They are badly beaten, burned with cigarettes, starved, forced to wear dog collars, and abused until they are psychologically broken to a point where they will mindlessly obey like zombies.
Most victims die within just 4-7 years after becoming sex slaves – they are beaten to death; OD after being forcefully addicted to narcotics; die from STD’s like HIV/AIDS, or they just give up and commit suicide – Survivors suffer a lifetime of fear, anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, addiction, and disease for the rest of their lives with little avenue for treatment
This is happening right here in practically every community of the United States. Children victims come from all backgrounds including wealthy and poor – every ethnicity and gender is represented; 80% are girls 20% boys. They don’t just include runaways or throwaways, but ordinary kids are being routinely snatched off the streets, playgrounds, and even out of their mother’s arms in grocery stores. Many are put on a plane within 24 hours never to be seen or heard from again.
Child sex slaves can initially be bought for as little as $90 and once “broken in” can be sold for as much as $5000. A pimp can make $150,000-$250,000 per child, per year, “tax free,” and exploits an average of 4-6 girls and boys. Due to the enormous amount of money involved, organized crime and cartels are now heavily involved in child sex trafficking. The children can be sold over and again, while guns and drugs can only be sold one time.
Society including many police officers and attorney generals call having sex with a child, “prostitution” – Federal law calls it sex trafficking, but the stark reality is that it is Child Rape for Profit. They need training and they need it NOW. The demand for child sex is rising at an alarming rate and an estimated 300,000 kids are being added annually.
There are stringent laws already on the books that would deter criminals from raping children if they were being rigidly enforced; however, far too many judges, and district attorneys display sympathy and advocate suspended sentences and reduced charges for the powerful attorneys, doctors, prominent businessmen, politicians, religious leaders, celebrities and others who commit these crimes.
Often the only one that goes to jail is the child who gets arrested for prostitution. It is an enigma – Think about it – A child cannot be a prostitute – they are always victims. Yet many misguided people plead for leniency and suspended sentences for the perpetrators, and proffer that they don’t want to see someone’s life ruined because of “the oldest profession”, prostitution, or what they portray as “simply making an honest mistake”. This is especially true for first-time offenders.
I suppose someone should ask these people: What about their victims? They are tortured for years and condemned to die! I don’t have any sympathy for a 40 or 50 year old man who rapes a 6-14 year old child. He needs to go to prison and mandatory long sentences in federal prison, heavy fines, registration as sex offenders for life, and forfeiture of property should all be used to dissuade criminals from committing this heinous crime. 25 years to life in prison for raping a child is not out of the question.
Tough sentencing guidelines will eliminate this problem and should be implemented. Judges and attorney generals should not have the discretion to reduce sentences for convictions of child rape. The Jesus Alliance and its many partners are working towards achieving that goal.
Stop for a moment and think about your children or grandchildren – what if it was one of them? The key to stopping this nightmare is to go after the demand. Those who buy sex with children. No demand – No victims!
