Yesterday I talked with a top executive of a highly rated news organization who has promised to help the Jesus Alliance bring attention to the disgusting situation with those predators who pay for the privilege of raping children. An astounding 26% of those caught serve no jail time and the average time served for the rest is a mere 1.5 years. The victims however don’t get off so easy. They face sentences of vile vicious rapes by hundreds of men, STDs, suicide, being beaten to death, overdoses of drugs, and psychological problems for virtually the rest of their lives.
My friend has promised to put three of his best reporters on this story and will begin a major push to publicize the sickening facts about this perverted business. There are many thousands of groups that are attempting to help victims and others who are going after the traffickers. Unfortunately, few are going after the root of the problem, the consumers. These animals are rarely convicted, and when they are they serve minimal sentences dependent upon the state in which they live. Georgia for example, until recently boasted a whopping $50 fine and misdemeanor charge for trafficking a child. Now thanks to the hard work of caring people it is up to $150K and life in prison.
The Jesus Alliance is trying its utmost to get these consumers behind bars and when they get out make them register as sex offenders. The crime of buying children for the purpose of raping them should be rated as a federal crime instead of state. This would provide sentencing that is the same across the United States and we of course desire sentencing guidelines that are so stringent that the demand is reduced to the level that only the most perverted would chance it. If there is no demand, there are no victims, pimps, forced abortions, forced drug addictions, or young children dying far too young after living horrific lives.
Please pray for me as I go to Washington D.C. next week to meet with various legislators, policy makers, and media. No child should have to endure being raped multiple times per day because of the lusts and perversion of crazed men and the greed of the criminals who are making huge sums of money selling them.
How can you help? Donate to the Jesus Alliance. It costs money to get something through Congress and lots of it. God will provide and perhaps you can be part of His answer. When the bill is introduced we will need millions of Americans to pressure their legislators and senators to vote in favor of this bill. You can also pray to almighty God.
Together we can change the world for hundreds of thousands of children. Don’t sit on the sidelines on this one. You are free to serve the Lord! Please don’t deny the power God has given you to serve Him . . .
