Have you ever done something extraordinarily nice for someone and then have them not even thank you for all of your effort? It only takes a second to say thank you, yet it means so much. I have noticed in my travels to the Northeast in particular that thank you is all but non-existent. If you purchase something up there, forget about the sales person thanking you for the purchase. The same is true when going through a toll, or at the car rental counter, or when dealing with business people. I hear more thank you’s in the Southeast than anywhere, followed by the southwest.
I wonder if those who say it are actually thankful for something, or if their parents brought them up to be polite. New Yorkers seem to take pride in being rude and allude to it as being a necessary part of being a New Yorker. Could it be that this again is the result of their parents and peers teaching them not to say thank you? Could it be that rude is in and thank you’s are out?
The Bible teaches us to be thankful to the Lord always, and to tell Him so. As with most things we are instructed to do in the Bible, it would be smart to also use this in other parts of our lives as well. If someone does something nice for you today, for goodness sake thank them.
Not because of your training, but because you are sincerely thankful for what they have done.
Psalms 107:31
Oh that men would give
thanks to the Lord for His
goodness.
How well do you know the Bible?
Stephen was martyred for the sake of his belief in Jesus. He was stoned to death. Who led the stoning party?
Acts 7:54-60
