I watched much of the coverage on the monster fires yesterday and my heart goes out to those folks. It was sad watching them evacuate, especially those who abandoned their cars and took off walking/running for their lives. I wonder if it was just a quirk weather phenomenon or if was ordered up by God.
I thought the same thing a few years back when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. God has been known to judge evil people throughout the Bible. I know New Orleans is wicked to the core and the hurricane could have been judgment.. Or who could have imagined that at 3:00 AM throngs of inebriated people would be crowding the streets when the ISIS member drove his vehicle through the crowd killing and maiming so many. Maybe it was Southern California’s turn for similar reasons to get walloped by the storm which has zero containment as I write this.
Who can know the mind of the Lord? Certainly not me. I do know there are examples in the Bible of wicked evil persons being judged. Before you send me any hate mail just know that I’m not including everyone who lives in California, but certainly there are many who do fit that bill who live there. I have been praying for ALL people in that state and I’m hoping that the evil in that place can be replaced with love. Christianity is largely forgotten or ignored in Hollywood and I pray that this experience changes hearts and minds.
John Calvin wrote: When God Wants to Judge A Nation, He Gives Them Wicked Rulers. Maybe that is part of the problem…
Proverbs 11:21
“Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; but the posterity of the righteous will be delivered”.
