Tomorrow I will board a plane and head for Fiji. It is a 24 – hour flight so you might have some interruption in Words for the Day. I will do the best I can but there are many time zones and the International Date line with which to contend. I am worn out with doctor appointments, MRI’s, CT scans, cardiology tests, and Tuesday I had a 3 1/2 hr operation on my nose. I was telling my old farm worker about all about my maladies to include the excruciating back pain caused by arthritis and he simply looked at me and with a hearty smile told me I was tough like an old bull and then amended it to a “hooking” bull.

I guess he is right. I plan to Marlin fish for 3 days on Fiji and I hope to battle a big Marlin or two. I will explore the islands (with my wife driving due to my macular degeneration) and will go snorkeling at some point. Not bad for an old 78 year old man eh?

So many of my friends that are my age or younger seem to give up on life. It seems a shame to me. Those of us that are moving into the twilight years should be trying to squeeze every minute and hour out of our daily lives. God gives some of us a long life. For sure growing old is not for sissies, but you can grit your teeth and fight your way through most anything and you will be glad you took a chance on living.

Isaiah 46:4
“I will be your God throughout your lifetime – until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”
