It is my humble opinion that nothing in this life can take the place of a good friendship.  It is difficult to maintain a friendship however, especially when one or both parties allow pride to get in the way. when it does friendship is doomed. It might prove helpful to memorize this verse: Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud.

The Bible defines a friend as follows: “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. ” How many friends would you willingly take a bullet for if you know that the bullet would kill you?  This verse helps us to understand how much Jesus loves us, eh?

In Proverbs the author tells us one of the huge advantages of having friends:  “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. It is advantageous to have friends if they are wise. We know we can count on them to come through for us. And they don’t ask for anything in return.

Many folks don’t have many friends. The Bible tells us that in order to have friends we must be friendly ourselves. Sounds like common sense to me. We will have just about as many friends as we are willing to ask to “break bread” with us and with whom to share some laughs together. A friend is your buddy, your pal, your amigo, your comrade. You know, someone you trust and like enough to hang out with on a regular basis.

A friend will weep with you in times of grief and laugh together when life is good. All in all I enjoy friendship more and more every day. I hate to burn bridges with anyone. Before you decide to tear down a relationship think long and hard about what you will be giving up. Only one (save Jesus) is perfect all of the time. Remember how many times Jesus told us to forgive one another for whatever injury perceived or real occurs. If your friend says something to hurt your feelings or damage your precious pride, simply forgive them. I’ve eaten crow on more than one occasion and to tell the truth it doesn’t taste all that bad…

Remember this: “The LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. – C.S. Lewis.
Friends are valuable,  treat them as such
