Yesterday I wrote about the design prowess of God’s creation. So today I read in a Christianity Report’s post of an actor, Brian Cox, who railed against the Bible and made the statement that people who believe it are stupid, especially the book of Genesis. I shook my head when I read it and cannot do anything but pray for this man that he will come to know Jesus, but he is 77 years old, and it is doubtful.
He obviously doesn’t know about creation and how perfect it is. I could not tell if he believed in evolution. Believing all life evolved from some primordial cocktail is what is stupid. If he believes we evolved from mud, and it magically spawned life and it kept evolving until today. To me this logic would be like finding a beautiful Rolex watch keeping perfect time in the woods and saying it evolved from mud into a fine watch through the eons.
I think this man probably had a bad experience with a Christian somewhere down the line. Why else would he use expletives to spew his position and insult much of the world? I always wonder what someone like him experienced in childhood or their early life. Is he seeking more attention for himself? If so, he is betting his own soul for a moment in the headlines.
I have faced death too many times to remember. I have been hanging on by a thread and staring death right in the eye. The old saying that “there are no atheists in foxholes” comes to mind. I was totally at ease on all these experiences, save one, and that was after I was in a car wreck and had slipped into a coma when God took me to hell to show me where I was heading if I didn’t change my ways. It was not pleasant! I hope Mr. Cox does not experience that type of visit and yet again that might be just what is needed to convince him.
In the last paragraph of Christianity Report the writer said we should be prepared to combat the Brian Cox’s of the world. Not with fists, guns, or knives but with sound logic that is undeniable (provided they are objective). Otherwise, judging by his age he will visit hell permanently. Don’t think it is possible? C.S. Lewis though an avowed atheist converted late in his life and went on to accomplish great things for the Lord. All things are possible with God.

“always be ready to give a defense of the faith that is in you.”
