I get many questions from readers concerning a desire to increase their faith. Well, my first suggestion would be pull out your Bible and read what it says about how to do it. Put God’s Word into your mind. A key verse can be found in Romans 10:17: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” If we’re not constantly putting the Bible into our minds, we’re not going to have much faith or grow in faith! It’s as simple as that. What goes along with that is to:
- Embrace relationship with God Himself (Jn. 17:3).
- Ask God to reveal Himself to you (Matt. 7:7).
- Surrender your will and accept His will (Rom. ..).
- Step out of our comfort zones and trust God will do what He promises (II Cor.)
It is hard to have faith if you have not done anything but declare you are a Christian. No, my friends,, God wants you to study His commands and then obey them. You must open your Bible and study. If you do so and obey as many as you can, then you will see your faith grow exponentially.
If you have faith, worry will cease to exist. You will know God is with you now and forever. He is the master, and we are His servants from now throughout eternity. You will also get an inkling of his deep and abiding love for you. He will bless your efforts but that doesn’t mean you will be trouble free and face trials. It does mean you will be able to get through them and take everything in stride.
One of the first disciplines a Christian should prioritize is reading God’s Word. It’s important for Christians to be familiar with Scripture. This means regular devotional reading. How you make Bible reading a discipline is up to you. Maybe it’s a chapter a day or multiple chapters on a weekend. In any case, it’s critical that you’re spending time familiarizing yourself with Scripture.
Remember It is not enough to just know there is a God.
Try it for the next 90 days and if your faith doesn’t increase you get your money back.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
