By bye COVID it seems my wife and I are recovering faster than a speeding bullet from COVID. So thank you Jesus and thank you readers for your prayers. Now for that rest I forecast for 2024.
So, today my wife was feeling particularly froggy after recovering some and she decided to vacuum out the fireplace. She of course used my brand-new shop vacuum. I rounded the corner and saw a huge amount of smoke billowing from it filling the house with soot and smoke. I could barely see my way through it and was coughing up a storm.
Yep it was on fire. I grabbed it and ran outside as it broke into flames. Apparently in a stoke of genius she had vacuumed up live embers from a fire that had been burning in the fireplace. My shop vac filter was now burning with a vengeance too. I made it outside and sprinted over to the water hose and discovered that I didn’t have a water hose hooked up to it. I sprayed it by hand. It did not put it completely out, so I picked it up and ran out to the road in front of my house and dumped the burning mess on the ground. I started stomping it to put it out and suddenly the boot with which I had been stomping it caught on fire.
YEOW! I ran around trying to get it out stomping and kicking and then I sprinted back to the water faucet which extinguished it rather handily. I ruefully rubbed my foot and looked for my wife who was nowhere in sight. She had taken off for Lord knows where. Maybe she saw the glare from my eyes from the window.
Well so much for rest and the end of trials and tribulations. It is my guess that Jesus had a good laugh. I was reminded that trials and tribulations are part of life. A friend whom I haven’t seem in a couple of decades but still reads WFTD and has done so since its inception wrote today and said he still reads it. He told me he remembered me telling him one time that life is comprised of valleys and peaks, and we get both in this old world. He reminded me and Jesus reminded me today of this truth. Just as I have recovered from COVID nicely and thought I was sitting on top of the world, this happened. Just so you know my wife laughed about this incident after it was over. That is just not right.
Jonah 2:6
To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you, LORD my God, brought my life up from the pit.
