I’ve been reading some material on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Unless you live on another planet you are familiar with the power couple. I have been enthralled by Taylor Swift and have felt she was beautiful, talented, and intelligent. Not only that but she has amassed a fortune that exceeds a billion dollars. Her boyfriend is one of the top NFL players in the league and they seemed to be the perfect couple and great role models.

Then I listened to an interview the other day and Travis Kelce cursed like a sailor. He really has a foul mouth. So, I wondered if Taylor used the same type of language, and unfortunately the answer is yes she uses foul language on occasion. We all have our weaknesses, and it seems this is one of theirs. Recently they moved in together. This seems to be totally acceptable these days and no one thinks much about it, except God who calls it fornication and sin.

Role models rarely want to be role models. It is simply too hard to live up to the expectations of those who like to think of themselves as perfect. I know I have used foul language and otherwise sinned as we all have done and am far from perfect. The last thing I desire is to be cast in is being a role model. Christ is the only person who did not sin. Thus, He became the only acceptable sacrifice that was wholly worthy of atoning for our sins.

I hated to hear Taylor Swift cursing and I hope she overcomes it and follows the Holy Spirit. She also supports LGBTQ+ and abortion which are dark sins but commonplace in Nashville and the music business. If one thing is clear from all of this, it’s that Taylor has established her own relationship with faith. Although her beliefs deviate from many of Christianity’s traditional values, she declares she is a Christian and stands firm in her faith and the causes she supports. Sin has consequence and I do know that we cannot sin as we please without enduring some pain. It is sad that Satan controls the world, but it shall not always be so.

1 John 5:19
We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one.

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
