Good morning – Last May I had rotator cuff surgery and decided to stop writing Words for the Day. It seemed to be lacking the spark that had driven it the many years I had been writing it. I got a ton of correspondence of readers asking me to keep writing, so I did. One of the reasons I decided to stop was it just did not seem fresh nor relevant. Sadly, that has not changed, and therefore I have decided once again to make a change.

After 25 years of writing WFTD five days per week I find myself retelling many of the same events and life lessons. To revitalize it I am reducing the amount of posts that I send out down to two per week. It is my hope that it will be far more meaningful. I have asked the Holy Spirit to stay close to me and to provide me with topics of His choosing that will prove to be interesting and helpful to our daily lives and His purpose.

Today’s entry is such an entry. We are coming up on another election and it is as ugly as the previous ones. It seems the antisemites are outnumbering those who love Israel. I mean can you imagine three presidents of major universities saying they want to see an entire nation succumb to genocide. What if those advocating wiping out the Jews were saying it about blacks, or gays? Our country is filled with violence, chaos, mayhem reigning supreme with drug infestation, illegal immigrants, homeless lawbreakers, murderers, thieves, corrupt politicians and corporate criminals worshipping money, lying media, sexual deviants and other immoral scum ruining our society.

What to make of all of this? Truly I believe we are in the cusp of the Last Days. I often pray the Lord Jesus returns soon, and then I think better of it. The only reason I don’t want to see this happen is I believe God has withheld judgment for now for a purpose. He wants anyone and everyone who would come to Him to do so before it is too late. Thus, we are called to witness and spend as much time as possible trying to plant seeds that the Holy Spirit can nurture. Are you doing your part? If the answer is no or not really, then it is not too late to start today.

I recently got our church involved with a ministry for kids whose lives are a living hell due to non-existent or bad parents. We are trying to provide good Godly surrogate parents to them. One example is a little boy in our community. His father is in prison and will be there for a long time. His mother has been married five times and recently committed suicide. If no one intervenes what will become of this youngster? He needs a father and mother. One such boy recently graduated in the program and is going to church now. He is making good grades in school and is hanging out with good kids. I truly believe that people like this boy are the reason God is so patient in His return. Our pastor and deacons have gotten behind this effort and surely many will benefit. Programs like this are why we are left on this earth. Ask yourself what you can do to help lost souls find Jesus. If not a program like the one I got started in our community, then one better suited for your talent and gifts.

2 Timothy 3:1
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. …

Don’t forget: Words for the Day will be reduced to two posts per week beginning this week.
