Muslims, with Hamas currently at the forefront, and a MYRIAD of others hate the Jewish people and yet according to the Bible God chose the Israelis as His chosen people to receive our Messiah and be a nation of priests, prophets, and missionaries to the world. It seems to be an oxymoron eh?
Israel was informed that God had selected them not because of their numbers as a people, or power (indeed, they were and have always been but a tiny fraction of the human population and a minor power among the nations) but the Bible says God loves them.
Most importantly God chose the nation of Israel to be the people through whom Jesus Christ would be born—the Savior from sin and death (John 3:16). Jesus Christ is the ultimate reason why God chose Israel to be His special people. God did not need to have a chosen people, but for His own reasons He decided to do it that way. Jesus had to come from some nation of people, and God chose Israel and He loved Abraham.
However, God’s reason for choosing the nation of Israel was not solely for the purpose of producing our Savior. God gave Israel the privilege of guarding God’s word and sharing it with other nations. His desire for Israel was that they would go and teach others about Him. For the most part, Israel failed in this task. However, God’s ultimate purpose for Israel—that of bringing the Savior into the world—was fulfilled perfectly in the Person of Jesus Christ.
Beginning with a single man, Abraham, God built a powerful nation. In Genesis 12:2, God promised, “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
We must understand the Jewish nation was chosen and blessed by God, not only for their own sake, but to be a blessing to all nations, for all time. God’s plan for Israel stretched beyond their borders and forever.
In this world that is dark with sin and chaos, God chose Israel to be a light to the nations. They were called to reflect God’s character to all nations. Through Israel, neighboring peoples or nations discovered what obedience to God would bring but also what would follow because of their disobedience. God chose Israel to be a people who would showcase both His redeeming grace and righteous judgment. “God wanted a prize nation that was an example to the world – not of how they behave, but of how He behaves.”
The elites and celebrities celebrate Hamas, Hezbollah, the PLO, and many nations and individuals who flaunt God’s Holy Word the Bible. Just look where it is taking them. Why does the world hate the Jews? The truth is that the world hates the Jews because the world hates God.
John 15:18
If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
