Welcome to the latest battle for our souls launched by ChatGPT Microsoft’s version of AI – (Artificial intelligence). This battle concerns AI changing the Bible. According to statistics most folks have not read the Bible and know little about it. Now comes the WOKE brigade using AI to change it and the obvious result will be, “Well the Bible says it, so it must be true.

Yesterday one of the headline articles on Fox online news was:

Christians attack ChatGPT-generated fake Bible verse about Jesus endorsing transgenderism

Christians are responding to a fake Bible passage generated by ChatGPT that said Jesus accepts trans-identified individuals, stating “there is no man nor woman. “And a woman, whose heart was divided between spirit and body, came before Him,” the fake passage reads.

“In quiet despair, she asked, ‘Lord, I come to you estranged, for my spirit and body are not one. How shall I hope to enter the kingdom of God?'” “Jesus looked upon her with kindness, replying, ‘my child, blessed are those who strive for unity within themselves, for they shall know the deepest truths of my Father’s creation,'” the passage continued. “Be not afraid, for in the kingdom of God, there is no man nor woman, as all are one in spirit. The gates of my Father’s kingdom will open for those who love and are loved, for God looks not upon the body, but the heart.”

Messianic Jewish author and radio host Michael Brown wrote in an op-ed published in the Christian Post, that while “there is truth to the claim that in God’s kingdom there is neither male nor female … this doesn’t mean that gender distinctions should be blurred or transgressed.”

He said Jesus would look upon a trans-identifying person with kindness, and encouraged “followers of Jesus” to do the same, but carefully parsed out the arguments made in the AI-generated passage.

“But that hardly means that there are no gender distinctions in terms of reality and in terms of implication,” he added. “To the contrary, the whole Bible, including the New Testament, makes gender distinctions, giving specific instructions to husbands and wives, and recognizing only two sexes.”

He said that Jesus would not and never said to any woman who felt like she was a man, “Be made whole,” and remove her breasts and give her a free “lifetime subscription to hormone pills.”

A man cannot become a woman and a woman cannot become a man. The biggest claim of the transgender movement is that a man who thinks he’s a woman can really be a woman, and vice versa. You see this in many ways — from preferred pronouns, sex reassignment surgeries, and demands to use the restroom of perceived rather than given gender.

The problem is that this is a philosophical claim that is not true, and can never be true, in any way or form. A man’s chromosomes cannot be engineered into female chromosomes. Altering one’s appearance cosmetically or surgically cannot change the underlying reality of a person’s biological make-up. The psychology of the mind cannot override the facts of a person’s biological markers. The transgender revolution demands that we believe falsehoods about human nature. And truth and falsehood have never been a matter of majority vote because we know that there is a Creator who has the authority to decide and state what is right and wrong.

I fear we are just getting started in this subversion of the Bible. For example, another fake verse concerns of all things veganism and is promoted by PETA, (People for the ethical treatment of animals) PETA has given the Bible’s Book of Genesis a “vegan” makeover, using ChatGPT to recreate the story and “send a can’t-be-missed animal rights message filled with vegan teachings.”

In PETA’s vegan version of the Bible, animals are referred to as “beings” rather than “beasts” or “creatures” and plants like hemp and bamboo are used for clothing instead of animal skins because “no one with any fashion or moral sense would wear animal skins in the 21st century.” Arghhh….

Some of you may think this is a non-issue. Consider that last week, an AI chatbot using digital avatars delivered a forty-minute sermon in a Lutheran church in Germany. How many verses are fake? Pronouns omitting he and she are being woven into these pseudo Bibles and pastors like the one in Germany are quick to hop on the wagon.

The Bible has a message for those who try to change God’s Holy Word. This warning is given specifically to those who distort the message of the Book of Revelation. Jesus Himself is the Author of Revelation and the giver of the vision to the apostle John (Revelation 1:1). As such, He concludes the book with a confirmation of His testimony to the finality of the prophecies contained in Revelation. These are His words, and He warns against distorting them in any way, whether through additions, subtractions, falsifications, alterations, or intentional misinterpretations. The warning is explicit and dire. The plagues of Revelation will be visited upon anyone guilty of tampering in any way with the revelations in the book, and those who dare to do so will have no part in eternal life in heaven.

Although the warning in Revelation 22:18-19 is specific to the Book of Revelation, the principle applies to anyone who seeks to intentionally distort God’s Word. Moses gave a similar warning in Deuteronomy 4:1-2, where he cautioned the Israelites that they must listen to and obey the commandments of the Lord, neither adding to nor taking away from His revealed Word. Proverbs 30:5-6 contains a similar admonition to anyone who would add to God’s words: he will be rebuked and proven to be a liar. Although the warning in Revelation 22:18-19 applies specifically to the Book of Revelation, its principle must be applied to the entire revealed Word of God. We must be careful to handle the Bible with care and reverence so as to not distort its message. Beware of false prophets, (such as AI)  my friends. In the End Times many will come in God’s name distorting His message. What is right is not wrong and vice versa though Satan would have us believe otherwise.

Rev. 22:18
And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book.
