I talked to a guy the other day and all he did was whine about his job, his lack of the material possessions he desired, the food in his kitchen the size of his home – Blah, blah, blah! I thought about how ungrateful he is for just being born in this rich country.  Most of the world lives in abject poverty and in comparison this dude has it made. Consider these photos sent to me by a reader:

Don’t like your job? Try this one

Or if you don’t want to walk you might try this

Don’t worry about accidents – Help will be on the way

Want to send some emails?

Too hot? Use this AC

Maybe you could be a deliveryman

Or sell produce

What if you could carry your prize possession on your back

In some places a fortune can be made in plastic

Maybe you could make more money as a lineman at the power company

Or a plumber

Sometimes it can be tough to be thankful for the little things of this life that God has provided to us, especially in hard times. But here’s the funny thing about thankfulness, once we begin counting our blessings, we often discover that we have a gracious plenty after all. It’s simply the change in perspective from dwelling on what we lack to focusing on what we have. Kinda makes you want to get down on your knees and thank God for the many things in life, not the least of which is being born in the USA – yes, even with all of her faults. We are blessed my friends and please don’t take it for granted.

Thankfulness is a concept that appears in the Bible many times. The faithful are called to give thanks to God for everything—and not only to be thankful but to rejoice:

Psalm 95:2
“Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!”
