2022

I have been making steady progress in setting my goals for next year. I believe I might finish them way ahead of schedule due omitting setting career or long-term goals. So, I have been focusing on short and medium goals for my personal life and of course the most important spiritual.

Regarding my spiritual goals, I have several, but one, in particular, intrigues me. I had an epiphany the other night at the Christmas worship music pageant concerning a project that promises to consume an inordinate part of time. I will have to learn several pieces of software to pull it off which I detest. Ugh…I was hopeful I could farm that out to someone, but painful or not I need to just get it done.

Once my vision is implemented, I have no doubt it will help many people. So as with anything worthwhile, there must be some hard work (pain) and performing the mundane prior to doing the fun part, (gain). As you have noticed I have not revealed what this project entails, and this is because I don’t want to overpromise and underdeliver.

I look forward in great anticipation to this project, albeit some of it will be difficult. Some may ask why someone who is enjoying retirement and is already busy from daily until dark would even embark on a course that they know will require more hard work and doing things they detest. The simple answer is I believe God wants me to remain active.

This is not to say I can still travel throughout the country speaking every weekend or doing some of the things I’ve done in the past. Certainly, my failing eyesight and the inability to drive at night limits those activities. But with magnifiers and big screen monitors, I can still pump out Words for the Day. It takes a little longer but hey, I’m still writing it.

My new project which involves video and photographs can also be done in like manner.

I say all this today to encourage you to set some goals for yourself. Yes, parts of it will eat into your personal time, but the rewards are countless blessings from God. Spend some time, starting today, praying, and thinking about what you will accomplish for the Lord in 2023, (Lord willing). Write it down and then begin working on your goals. It isn’t just about losing 5 pounds, improving your golf swing, or running a 5K but serving Almighty God. Did you know that the word “serve” appears 309 times throughout the books of the Bible? How are you serving? If you are not happy about what you are accomplishing, do something about it. Set significant goals high and go for it!

Ephesians 6:7
Rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man.
